Home care services for the elderly labeled inadequate

According to human rights researchers, home help care agents do not respect a normal visiting schedule, not to mention some of the most common tasks required.

This makes home help agents choose between services in order to facilitate the elderly. Sometimes they forget to prepare meals or their schedule, or even dressing their patients and washing them. Some believe that leaving the elderly to take care of themselves for hours at a time represents common practice. Such a practice left people lying in their beds for extended periods of time.

The report also implies that human rights are in jeopardy of being broken, and the ones who need the utmost attention to be sent to hospital or care homes without any good reason.

Neil Crowther, from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, believes that this should not be permitted to go on. He said:

The right to life, the right to live free of inhuman and degrading treatment and the right to a family life. We have incidences of where people are being left in bed for long periods or not being supplied with meals.

The report’s results will be published in November, and will contain the exact information gathered from homes throughout England.

The system is also suffering from restructuring as a woman revealed that she was visited by 32 different agents for a period close to a fortnight.

Many elderly people have been found to be feeling “frustrated and dissatisfied” because of the lack of professionalism received from the agents. The visits were also short, close the 15 minutes or less. These findings were based on the report that has involved 500 people from England.

This brought the attention of several government institutions in order to see that the results get better and the services be made according to law. Such practice is not permitted, and the authorities were immediately engaged in finding a solution.
